Portugal’s star footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, who has achieved numerous milestones throughout his illustrious career, has added another remarkable achievement to his name.
Ronaldo has become the first footballer in the world to score 900 goals in his professional career.
He reached this milestone on Thursday during a UEFA Nations League group match, representing Portugal against Croatia, by scoring a goal.
Portugal defeated Croatia 2-1.
Ronaldo, who has been showcasing extraordinary performance for the past two decades, has now scored a total of 900 goals in international and club matches, solidifying his place as one of the most successful footballers in history.
Ronaldo has scored 131 goals for Portugal (the most international goals by any player).
In club competitions, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored 145 goals for Manchester United, 450 for Real Madrid, and 101 for Juventus.
Additionally, Ronaldo has netted 68 goals for his current club Al Nassr and 5 for Lisbon.
After scoring his 900th career goal in the match against Croatia, Ronaldo appeared slightly emotional.
In a post-match interview with American media, the Portuguese star said, “This is a milestone I’ve been aiming to achieve for a long time.”
It’s noteworthy that the second player on the list of most career goals is Argentina’s Lionel Messi, who has scored 842 goals.
The third spot is held by the late Brazilian football legend Pelé, who scored 765 goals during his magnificent career.
